AISMA – Alliance for I4.0 and Smart Manufacturing in Africa, supported by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is launching a call for nominations for the AFRICA 4.0 Award in Research and Innovation in Industry 4.0 for the year 2025.

Three award categories will be attributed:

1 – Technological Innovation in Industry 4.0:
This award recognizes innovative solutions in AI, IoT, robotics, Big Data, 3D printing, or blockchain aimed at modernizing African industries within AISMA’s vision of smart manufacturing. Submitted projects can be technological solutions or filed patents.

2 – Young Researchers Award:
This award celebrates and highlights impactful research projects by doctoral candidates and young researchers under the age of 35, whose work in Industry 4.0 has significantly impacted the African industrial sector.
3 – Digital Leadership & Industrial Transformation:
This category honors organizations that have successfully implemented exemplary Industry 4.0 strategies. It also aims to encourage young African enterprises currently in prototyping or commercialization phases.
Application timeline

Nominees must be endorsed by at least two recognized researchers or prominent figures through letters of support and motivation. Award winners will be invited to participate in the inaugural Industry 4.0 Summit, taking place in September 2025 in Morocco. The event is co-organized by UNIDO’s Alliance for Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing in Africa (AISMA), Deutsche Messe AG, and Technix, a subsidiary of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University.
